Is eligibility based on income?
There are no specific eligibility requirements, other than you must be a current resident of Westminster and have lived here for at least the past year. We evaluate each situation to determine eligibility. People often find themselves in unexpected situations. You don’t need to be financially destitute to seek our assistance. Our goal is to help mend a situation in order to avoid extreme financial difficulty.
Who decides if I am eligible?
Although our initial contact may be made through a caring friend, relative or public safety person, we need to deal directly with you. Two Neighbors Helping Neighbors board members will meet with you in your home to determine what type of assistance is needed. All information received by Neighbors Helping Neighbors is kept CONFIDENTIAL.
Can Neighbors Helping Neighbors help me if I am receiving other aid?
Yes. Sometimes other assistance only allows you to maintain your current status, but cannot provide the extra help needed to move ahead. We will meet with you to determine if assistance of a different type is necessary in your situation. We often assist people who, during normal situations, may not be eligible for assistance elsewhere, but due to extraordinary circumstances, find themselves in times of need. We provide short-term assistance. We will identify other available resources which may help provide long-term relief for your situation.

How can Neighbors Helping Neighbors help?
Assistance is provided by paying very specific bills and expenses. No cash is ever handed out to a recipient. Assistance has come in the form of equipment for handicapped children and adults, assistance with rent and mortgage payments, food, medicine, transportation and much more.
